Most of us just put the lights in moderation, as long as it is already installed lights, that’s enough. • Clarifying each part & functionality of the room in the house.

Very interesting benefit, isn’t it?

Before we talk the lighting for every room in our house, let’s take a look about lighting categories for indoor usage. There are three lighting categories that are suitable for the home; general lighting, specified lighting, and accent lighting. These three types of lighting indicate the function of the lights placed in the room of the house.

  1. General lighting
General lighting is the main source of lighting at our home. This is a lamp placement design that is very commonly used by people for its occupancy. Interior lights of this type are located in the center of the room. The purpose of using this general interior light is so that the entire room looks very clear and the lighting is spread evenly.
  2. Specified lighting
Choose the Type of Lamp Based on the Room: specified lightingSpecial lighting or often called task lighting is a type of lighting placement that is focused on an area or place. The purpose of installing this type of lighting is to help you do specific activities, such as reading, cooking, or help you finish your handwork. Using task lighting also make your eyes healthier and stress-less when you do these activities.
  3. Accent lighting
This kind of interior lighting is almost the same as task lighting, which is focused on a special area. The difference is this type of lamp is more used to highlight special objects such as paintings and art objects. The aim is to present different nuances through attractive visual forms.
Accent lights are usually equipped with spotlights. This is done so that it looks strong light bias so that the light is focused on the intended object.

So we known that lighting has a very important role in the arrangement of the house. With the right lighting, the house can make its inhabitants feel comfortable. Therefore, must be smart to regulate lighting in the house. Moreover, different rooms also function differently. That is what must be adjusted.

Kitchen-room
Quoted from The Hindu, kitchen room requires light that tends to be brighter. Cooking activities will be more fun if you use lights with evenly spread light in the room. In addition, cooking often uses sharp tools, such as knives. Enough lighting will help you be more careful in using the equipment.

Bedroom
Conversely, for the bedroom, it is better not to use lamps with diffused light such as for the kitchen. Also avoid lighting that directly leads to the face and eyes. For the bedroom, you can choose a lamp that is placed on the bed right at the top of the head. Thus, you can be free to choose to turn off the lights during sleep or keep it on if you want to read a book before falling asleep.

Bathroom
This room needs a lamp that is installed right above the room. To make it more interesting, you may embed additional lights on the mirror mounted in the bathroom.

Familyroom
Meanwhile, the family room which is more often used as a gathering place, must also have lights with special criteria. Lights in this room should have even lighting throughout the room, much like a kitchen. That’s because the family room usually has the largest room area in the house. Plus, the family room is often used for various activities, including children’s learning, so it requires brighter lights.

Research conducted by the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology supports this assumption. Quoted from the Huffington Post, Friday (4/29/16), found that students who study in a room with Light Emitting-Diode (LED) lamps — lights with bright lighting similar to daytime conditions, get higher test scores than students who study in a room with a dimmer light.

Based on the explanation above, we really need to choose a specific type of lamp for each room.
